There’s no doubt about it, our beloved chilli is becoming more and more popular Down Under. The number of Australian Hot Sauce companies producing international award winning products grows each year as we’re turning Australian sunshine into fiery flavours that the world enjoys.
One of the best opportunities to experience these fiery flavours is by getting yourself along to one of Australia’s growing number of chilli festivals. Chilli & Hot Sauce festivals the world over are where the most passionate hot sauce makers, chilli growers and hot sauce fans come together to share their love of all things spicy. It’s the perfect event to find something for everyone as hot sauciers tend to offer a spectrum of heat levels across their chilli sauce recipes.
Here’s some of the events to look out for if you’re planning to grab yourself a sizeable haul of Australia’s best hand crafted hot sauces.
- Queensland Fiery Food Festival, QLD – June 2017
- Sawtell Chilli Festival, NSW – July 2017
- Murphy’s Creek Chilli Festival, QLD – Oct 2017
- Ignite Chilli Festival, QLD – Nov 2017
- Sydney Chilli Challenge, NSW – February
- Melbourne Chilli & Herb Festival, VIC – March
- Araluen’s Chilli & Avocado, WA - March
Following the success of Murphy’s Creek Chilli Festival last year and with the introduction of two exciting new festivals across QLD this year, could this mean that Queensland is positioning itself as the Australian Capital of Chilli Festivals? It certainly feels like it with Queensland Fiery Food Festival, Murphy's Creek and Ignite on the horizon!
With less than two weeks to go to the Queensland Fiery Food Festival and the launch of our MacLeod Brewing Co. collaboration, Taipan Pale Ale (Habanero & Lime, 4.5%), things certainly seem to be hotting up here in the Sunshine state.
In celebration of QFFF's launch we're launching our latest creation, the first of a range of chilli beers. Our flagship chilli beer Taipan Pale Ale has all the flavour of an Australian pale ale with the bite of habanero & lime. This beer makes a surprisingly refreshing thirst quencher after the initial shock of it's bite. We're expecting our Taipan Pale Ale (brewed in collaboration with MacLeod Brewing Co on Queensland's Sunshine Coast), will be an instant hit on the day. With limited supply it's sure to run out fast...we'll have to brew plenty more for Murphy's Creek & Ignite, Queensland's next two Chilli Festivals. Who knows it may even make it onto the taps or in the bottle fridges of chilli friendly craft beer bars near you soon? Sooner if you start to ask them for it...
If you know of any chilli festivals that I’ve missed that even up the score across the states, or even any bars that need to stock our Taipan Pale Ale, please do drop me a line at email@example.com
See y'all at a festival up here soon...
